Jonathan Godbout
Data Scientist, Product Manager & UX Designer
Think Global. Live Local.
Hello there! My name is Jonathan Godbout, and I am a social entrepreneur and seasoned technology executive with over a decade of experience in the industry. I believe in the concept of "think global, live local," which is why I am drawn to social entrepreneurship and working on projects that positively impact local communities.
My social entrepreneurship journey started when I was just 14 years old, working as a plumber's apprentice for my father's plumbing and heating company. It was here that I recognized the importance of project management skills while learning to manage crews and install plumbing and heating systems in new houses.
After completing my degree in Economics and International Studies from Colby College, I joined IBM's consulting division as part of the Strategy and Analytics practice. During my tenure at IBM, I gained extensive expertise as a project manager, product manager, data scientist, UX designer, and business transformation consultant serving a number of customers across industry verticals and covering the public and private sectors. However, my journey in social entrepreneurship began in early 2013 when I joined Echoing Green's Social Investment Council to learn from risk-taking social entrepreneurs making a difference in their local communities.
In 2015, I co-founded iBUILD, a startup focused on building innovative technology solutions for the construction industry. As the Chief Technology Officer, I oversaw all aspects of the company's technology strategy and operations. Under my leadership, iBUILD became a major player in the construction tech space, attracting high-profile clients and investors such as Habitat for Humanity and Miyamoto International. In 2020, I stepped back from iBUILD's day-to-day operations to focus on a new venture, Prospector, where I am a co-founder and currently serve as the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Operating Officer. Prospector is a startup that uses cutting-edge human-centered artificial intelligence data analytics to enable investors to make informed decisions about the environmental, social, and governance impact of each mine and company, helping drive the transition towards renewable energy. Current clients include Tesla, Newmont Gold, Agnico, BHP, SRK Consulting, USGS, and Factset.
Aside from my work at iBUILD and Prospector, I am passionate about giving back to the community. I began volunteering as a pro bono consultant at IBM in 2013 and advised the leadership of Freedom for Immigrants in early 2014, through Echoing Green. My involvement led them to invite me to serve on their board of directors, a role that I still hold seven years later. Finally, I am passionate about promoting education in the trades, a value instilled in me by my father Jim Godbout. In line with this passion, I took on a redevelopment project of a blighted 10,000 square foot building, investing $1.2M in rehabilitating it and now renting affordable housing apartments below market rate.
Overall, I am a leader passionate about leveraging technology to create positive change in local communities. I bring my diverse experience in both corporate and startup environments, combined with my commitment to social impact to solve complex problems. Let's build something together!
